Coin Wars Concluding

As you may seen by now, Venturing Crew 1776 is hosting a coin war fundraiser at the pack to help raise funds for a high-adventure camp this summer. The fundraiser started on Feb 5th, and will end on Feb 26th. This means there is only ONE meeting left to try and help your den win!

Each den has a bin, with our younger and smaller dens having a joint bin, that is located at the snack bar. Add any loose change you have to your den’s bin in order to obtain positive points towards your total score! Each cent is equal to one point, so a quarter is worth 25 points. If you want to sabotage another den, add dollar bills to their bin! Each dollar takes away 100 points from the den.

At the end, our Venturers that serve as Den Chiefs will count up the points for each den and announce the winning den at the following meeting. After the winning den is announced, that den will get to vote on what prize item they wish to have from a list that the crew has created.

Thank you for helping the crew on this adventure, and good luck to all of the dens!

Five Below Fundraiser

Together, with Five Below, we are going to try to raise money by doing something most people already do, shop!

The Five Below at 4640 E Roosevelt Blvd. (located next to the Old Navy in the Walmart and Home Depot shopping Plaza) will be hosting a fundraiser for the next week, from Dec 12th through Dec 17th.  10% of all purchases made, with the flyer, will be donated to Pack 1776.

I have attached a copy of the half page flyer (2 per page). Please print a copy of the flyer and share with as many people as possible. As long as they present the flyer to the cashier, at the time of purchase we will receive credit.  Again it is important to take the flyer as without it we will not receive credit.

Please share the flyer with anyone you know that shops at or may need something from Five Below.

Share, Shop, Donate!!

Pancake Breakfast & Bake Sale Success

Pancake BreakfastI want to extend a hearty thank you to all who attended our first Scout Sunday Pancake Brunch. We had larger than expected turn out for our first run at this and the event was a huge success.

The members of our chartering organization, Saints United Lutheran Church, were nothing but complimentary.  They loved seeing the scouts working tirelessly to ensure everyone had their fill and enjoyed interacting with the leaders to learn about the programs we run.

With the church feeling it was a huge success they not only asked us to do this every year but they suggested we also consider running a spaghetti dinner and summer BBQ; both of which can be used as fundraisers to benefit our scouts.

Once again I’d like to extend a hearty thank you to the following for making this a huge success.

  • Cub Scouts: Thank you to those who attended the Scout Sunday service and to those who volunteered to work the brunch afterwords. Your attendance at the service made a great showing to our chartered organization and allowed them to showcase us to other members of the congregation. While a few of our cub scouts had specialty jobs, most worked as assistant servers and helped with cleanup. Great job to all of you!!!
  • Cub Scout Parents: The parents not only brought their scouts to attend the service but many of them contributed to the bake sale, attended the brunch, and spread the word to families and friends making this event a success.
  • Cub Scout Leaders: All leaders in attendance played a crucial role in the success of this event. Each one worked the entire time and didn’t eat until the end with the scout workers. From dealing with finances, to assisting with cooking, managing the floor, and managing the kitchen — you were busy and you were everywhere. Thank you Anna Andrijischyn, Chris Campagna, Karen Wonsor, Maureen Sytsma, Regina Giuffre, Shawna Tracey, and Tom Sytsma.
  • Saints United Lutheran Church: As our chartered organization a heartfelt thank you goes out to you for not only hosting our scouting units giving us a place to meet but for all of the support you continue to provide us.  We’d also like to thank you for allowing us the opportunity to run this event and for participating in it as well. A special thank you goes out to Lynette Comitalo, the president of the church board, for working with us to coordinate the event.
  • Karen Wonsor: Karen was the driving force behind this event. She not only managed the kitchen like a pro, but she pulled together the resources of three scouting units and managed all of the volunteers from them to run this huge success.

2015 Scout Sunday Pancake Brunch and Bake Sale

Scout Sunday 2015 PatchNext Sunday, March 22nd, is our Scout Sunday Pancake Brunch and Bake Sale.  Scout Sunday is an annual event meant to mark the founding of Scouts in the United States. While the Boy Scouts of America has designated the Sunday preceding February 8th, or February 8th if it is a Sunday, as Scout Sunday; observance varies by unit and locale.  On this day scouts go to their places of worship or chartering organization, if it is a religious institution, in uniform and represent scouting at the service.

It is also a day in which scouts of all faiths recognize the good work done by scouts in their religious communities and through the religious communities that sponsor their unit. For many religious organizations Scouting is the community outreach program of choice for youth and Scout Sunday is a day to give back and allow the members of the institution to meet the scouts and their leaders and allow the parents of the scouts to meet the community and members of the organization that allows us to meet.

Pancake BreakfastThis Scout Sunday, not only will our attendance and participation be a great showing for the Saints United Lutheran Church, our chartering organization — The organization has allowed us to use the opportunity as a fundraiser.  We ask that all scouts, regardless of faith, participate in this event by coming out to represent your unit, in full uniform, as well as helping out at the fundraiser.

Additionally we ask that you spread the word to all your friends and family to come on out and attend the fundraiser (flier attached below).

The schedule of events is as follows:

  • 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM – Service at Saints United Lutheran Church
  • 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM — Pancake Brunch and Bake Sale

Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, and coffee or juice for $5.00 per person.  Pancakes are all you can eat!!!

Note: For those of you bringing baked goods, please bring the baked goods to the gym prior to the service or the day of the Pinewood Derby (March 21st). There will be signups at the table tomorrow night for those who have not yet signed up.

2013 Krispy Kreme Deadline

Krispy Kreme Glazed DonutJust one last reminder that Monday March 4th is the deadline to have in all Krispy Kreme orders. Please be sure to bring all money and quantities to Scouts with you.  We will not be able to accept any late orders as we will be contacting Krispy Kreme with our order on Tuesday March 5th.

Krispy Kreme Fundraiser Update

Krispy Kreme Glazed DonutAt our leaders meeting last week, we decided to extend the time to take orders by one more week.  This will not only allow you to sell for an additional week but it will make the logistics with Krispy Kreme work out a bit better.

The deadline is now Monday March 4th.  So we will accept orders until that date.  If you are ready to turn in you can still do so on Feb 25th.  We just will not be placing our order with Krispy Kreme until Tuesday March 5th.

If you are reading this and are interested in helping us out, the full details can be found here, and you can place an order by reaching out to us on the Contact Us page. If you live outside the region we can ship your certificates to you.

2013 Krispy Kreme Fundraiser

Krispy Kreme Glazed DonutSatisfy Your Sweet Tooth &  Help Cub Scouts Do Their Best

Cub Scout Pack 155 had so much sucess with the Krispy Kreme Fundraiser last year that we decided to do it again.  We are now taking orders for Krispy Kreme Fundraising Certificates that are good for One Dozen Original Glazed Donuts.  Each certificate is $8.00 which is $1.00 cheaper than buying the donuts outright at the store.  All the while each certificate sold helps the pack.

We are taking orders between January 28th and February 25th, all monies are due up front and to be turned in at the Den Meeting on Monday February 25th.  All certificates will be handed out to the sellers at the Den Meeting on Monday March 4th, or March 11th for distribution to the buyers.

So think about it, you can satisfy that craving, save a buck and help the scouts all at once, by buying some certificates for Krispy Kreme Donuts. These certificates make great gifts, great incentives or just use them so you are ready for the next special occasion. The donuts themselves freeze well too.

Prizes & Incentives

This year we are offering two prizes as well as helping the scouts with money for Summer Camps.

  • $50 Game Stop gift card – To the scout who sells the most certificates.
  • $25 Game Stop gift card – Any scout selling more than 10 certificates, and who did not win the $50 gift card, will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Game Stop gift card.
  • Summer Camp Funding*

*Any scout who sells more than 5 certificates will get $1.00 per certificate sold over the 5th placed in an account. This money can be used for Summer Day Camp or Summer Resident Camp in July.  These funds are strictly for one of these two camps and cannot be used for anything else. Any funds not used towards Summer Camp will be forfeited.

Attached is a copy of the flyer and presale form in case you missed the meeting and need a copy or if yours if full and you need an additional sheet.
