Bear Update 01/27/2020

Bear Adventure: Grin and Bear ItOn Monday the Bears started working on the Grin and Bear It Adventure. We covered what the adventure entailed and how we will complete while doing some painting and telling some great jokes.  We are keeping the details a “secret” until we are completed and ready to share with everyone.

If you wish to review a bit more about Grin and Bear It, just click the link to review the requirements.

Due to the impending weather conditions and the city school/office closings, we will be cancelling tonight’s meeting.  Please stay warm and stay safe.

Webelos 1 & 2 Update – 11/13/2017

Webelos Elective Adventure: Art ExplosionOn Monday, both Webelos dens worked together on the Art Explosion adventure. In this adventure Webelos Scouts discovered that exploring the arts is a fun way to try new things! They had the opportunity to develop their creative potential while making original works of art after discovering what inspired them during their visit to a virtual art museum. When sharing their project ideas with each other, the Webelos Scouts had the opportunity to respect the creations of others while valuing their own ideas.

The Webelos scouts completed Art Explosion Requirements 1, 2, 3b, 3c, and 3i meeting all of the requirements to complete this adventure.  The scouts were encouraged to go through the Art Explosion adventure in their handbooks and consider working on any of the optional sub-requirements in requirement 3 and the optional requirement 4 for some additional exploration into the arts.

Solar Eclipse

As most of you know, this Monday there will be a total solar eclipse. But did you know you can earn a patch for experiencing such a rare event? To provide context to the rarity of this event, the last time a total solar eclipse was visible anywhere in the mainland United States was in February 1979 and the last time a total solar eclipse was visible across the entire contiguous United States was in June 1918. The next two total solar eclipses to cross the United States will be in April of 2024 and August 2045.

Venturing Crew 1776 will be hosting a Eclipse picnic party for all the scouts that meet at Saints United Lutheran Church from 11:30AM to 4:30PM so that the scouts can watch the eclipse, work on the patch requirements, and have fun. For anyone that missed the Hickory Run camping trip, this is a great opportunity to get in an August Pack Activity.

If your interested in joining us please RSVP at Families that participate are asked to bring a snack such as chips, pretzels, dips, cookies, brownies, etc.

For those that want to make the eclipse viewing box, bring your supplies and we can work together building them.

Solar Eclipse Viewer Supplies

Small box with a lid (A shoebox is perfect.)
Small square of aluminum foil
Small square of white paper
Utility knife or hobby knife

If you want to make it at home, we have attached the link with full instructions.

Five Below Fundraiser

Together, with Five Below, we are going to try to raise money by doing something most people already do, shop!

The Five Below at 4640 E Roosevelt Blvd. (located next to the Old Navy in the Walmart and Home Depot shopping Plaza) will be hosting a fundraiser for the next week, from Dec 12th through Dec 17th.  10% of all purchases made, with the flyer, will be donated to Pack 1776.

I have attached a copy of the half page flyer (2 per page). Please print a copy of the flyer and share with as many people as possible. As long as they present the flyer to the cashier, at the time of purchase we will receive credit.  Again it is important to take the flyer as without it we will not receive credit.

Please share the flyer with anyone you know that shops at or may need something from Five Below.
